|
This course is designed to improve students’ general English skills and critical thinking skills. In this course, students will have opportunities to practice organizing their opinions and expressing them clearly. Students will practice use of English as a second language for internships and projects in developing countries in Asia and Africa. In addition, students will learn how to construct a proper answer and how to integrate speaking, listening, and writing skills to demonstrate college-level English proficiency. Towards the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to practice English conversation with US and Australian students.
総合的な英語スキルを向上させる。批判的思考力にフォーカスした内容で、自分の意見を整理して相手に分かりやすく伝えるための訓練を行う。第２外国語として英語を用いるアジアやアフリカなど途上国でインターンシップやプロジェクトを行うための第２外国語としての英語を用いる。さらに、大学レベルの英語力を証明するために、適切な解答の組み立て方、スピーキング、リスニング、ライティングのスキルを統合する方法を学びます。

By the end of this course, students will acquire basic English skills. They will be able to organize their opinions and clearly express them in English. Students will also acquire English as a second language.

are expected
to do
outside of the class

During this course, students are required to work on an e-learning course called English Central outside of class time. Students will practice English on English Central (e.g., watching short movies, learning new words, and practicing key phrases and sentences in English). Students will need to complete additional work during the required LS sessions, which they will attend during the 5th period on Mondays. In the LS sessions, students will complete a Go Live! lesson (an online English conversation lesson offered by English Central); students are required to work on 20 lessons within 13 first semester weeks. Details about the e-learning program will be provided to students during the departmental orientation.
月曜５限にe-learning (English Central) に取り組む LSsessionを設ける。LS sessionではGo Live！（＝英会話レッスン）を受講する。必ず出席し、Go Live! 受講のこと。

The e-learning portion (30%) of the final grade will be calculated based on the number of Go Live! lessons students complete during specific periods, as detailed below:
・From the beginning of the first semester to the end of Week 4 (April 11–May 15)
Students must complete 6 Go Live! lessons. Students will earn １ point for each lesson. Thus, the full point for the first session will be ６ points.
・From Week 5 to Week 8 (May 16–June12)
Students will earn ６ points for completing 6 Go Live! lessons.
・From Week 9 to Week 13 (June 13–July 17)
Students will earn ８ points for completing 8 Go Live! lessons.
Students who have completed all 20 lessons will earn an additional 10 points. For those completing 15 lessons will earn an additional 5 points.
e-learning 分の成績はGo Liveの受講数をもとに算出する。前期で13回の受講で30点とする。詳細は以下の通り：
第４週目（5月１５日）までの Go Live 受講数6回で6点。1回1点
第５週～第８週（５月１６日～６月１２日）までのGo Live受講回数6回で6点。１回１点
第９週～第１３週（６月１３日～７月１7日）までのGo Live受講回数8回で8点、１回１点
前期を通じて合計20回受講達成で10点。15回受講達成で5点。
