到達目標
Aim/goal
To build on the 1st Yr Presentation Workshop experience of presenting in English and to prepare for higher level research and writing requirements in 3rd and 4th Yr. The overall goal is to have all 2nd Yr students move into 3rd Yr understanding how to research, organize and deliver both a detailed presentation and essay in English.
Students will research, organize and deliver at least one detailed presentation in English from a choice of a ‘Comparative’ topic, ‘Original Research’ topic, or ‘Issue’ topic.
Students will follow each presentation with written work including a formal outline, and either parts or all of a written essay in English on the same topic.
Presentations will be done in a variety of combinations of pairs, groups or individuals. Written work will be done by individual students (some group work possible). The number of presentations, topics and combinations will be decided by individual instructors. Teachers may also include additional activities, small presentations or textbook work.
IMPORTANT - Instructors may adjust any parts of this syllabus depending on class needs.

Students need to keep in mind the aims/goals of the course and understand what needs to be done or prepared for the next class at all times. Several hours at least must be used to complete all assignments. They must meet the deadlines set for those assignments. Student should spend 3-4 hours over the week before a presentation on oral practice. If they are absent for any reason they must still follow all requirements. It is the students' responsibility to contact instructors if they are any questions. Especially they need to prepare for presentations, including contacting their peers.

Instructions on textbooks will be given in class.
Students must have one A-4 size notebook for handout prints, class notes, presentation planning and other activities. This will be part of the class grade. Planning will be done in Notebooks, but most final written work will be typed, so easy computer access is important.
