授業概要
Course
Outline
This class will be conducted in English. Our main sources of reading materials will be the English-language children's and young adult's literature. This category of literature is the best tool to conduct thought-experiments. To imagine what could happen if one of us could fly, for example. Such stories raise questions of identity, agency, and power relations. Children's and young adult's literature provides experience templates and reflects large-scale cultural trends. Our task for this class is to polish our critical thinking skills by learning different reading strategies and to track the cultural and social trends verbalised in the children's literature through analysing the language of the story.
